Privacy Policy

There is very little about you here. We never see your password and we run no advertising trackers. Three things are worth knowing: what you post is public, we measure which parts of the site get used, and a picture you upload is looked at by a person here.

What we collect

Your account: a handle, an email address, an identity reference from our sign-in provider, a hashed recovery code, and anything you choose to put on your profile.
What you post: charts, replies, likes, messages and watchlists.
How you use the site: which parts you open and for how long. See below.
Ordinary server logs and the settings you adjust.

We do not collect your password, payment details, real name, postal address, phone number, date of birth, or anything about your brokerage accounts or trades.

What is public

Anything you post on Ideas or on Dude, and your profile page, can be read by anyone at all, with or without an account. Your email address is not public. Neither is anything about what you have read.

Pictures you upload

A picture you upload is checked automatically the moment it arrives, and a person here looks at every one that gets through that check. The look happens after your post is up. We do not keep the file you send: we make our own copy, which is what removes the location and camera details a phone puts inside a photograph.

Usage information

We measure which parts of the site get opened and for how long. Signed in, it is associated with your account. You can read your own record in full and erase it yourself at any time from your profile page. Signed out, it is counted in aggregate and names nobody.

Cookies

One cookie remembers whether you chose the light or dark edition. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner.

Who else can see it

We use outside services to run the site: a sign-in provider, a hosting provider, a privacy-focused analytics provider, market data providers, and an AI provider. If you ask Odin to summarise a card or ask a question about one, that card's contents, your question, and the figures we hold about that company go to that provider. Questions are not stored; answers may be cached for up to seven days. Nothing is sold or shared for marketing, to anyone. Beyond that, data is disclosed only where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate abuse or protect someone's safety.

Where it is held, and for how long

In the United States. Using the site from elsewhere means your data is processed there. We keep your account and what you post until you remove it or ask us to; logs are kept on a short rolling window.

Security

Traffic is encrypted in transit and internal systems are not reachable from the internet. Passwords are held by our sign-in provider and never reach us. No system is perfectly secure. If you find a vulnerability, please report it to the address below rather than disclosing it publicly.

Your rights

You may have the right to see the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, get a portable copy, or object to how it is used. We apply these to everyone regardless of where you live. Much of it you can do yourself from your profile page and from the board. For anything else, including deleting your account, write to us. We answer within 30 days. You also have the right to complain to a data protection regulator.

Children

This site is not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we will remove it.

Changes

If this changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
